Dr. Carroll is originally from Camden, Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Auburn University with a major in Biomedical Sciences. She received her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Her interests include spending time with family, Auburn football, and going to the beach.
Dr. Weeks, though originally from the Midwest, has lived around the lovely state of Alabama for the better part of the last 30 years. He obtained a B.S. in Health Administration and an M.B.A. from Auburn University. He graduated from the medical school at the Georgia Campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017. He chose family medicine because he wanted to be able to take care of his patients through each stage in their life and he enjoys taking care of the medical needs of entire families. He spends his time away from work with his loving wife and two amazing daughters. When time allows, he enjoys scuba diving and playing racquetball.
Dr. Whiten is from the town of Trussville, AL one of the suburbs surrounding Birmingham. She went to undergraduate school at Huntington College in Montgomery, AL. There she was a member of the Huntington Hawks Volleyball Team all 4 years while majoring in Biochemistry. She completed her BA from Huntington College in 2011. She attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Georgia Campus and graduated in May of 2017. During one of her required rotations at CMC she fell in love with the idea of practicing full scope rural family medicine (and of coarse the people at Cahaba). Her hobbies include playing volleyball, biking, hosting/attending game nights, watching movies and Alabama Football (Roll Tide), listening to music, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Wright is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Technology from Purdue University and is a graduate of Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis. He was active in ROTC as an undergraduate and served as an officer in the US Army for five years before pursuing medicine. He loves Jesus Christ and is passionate about serving others through primary care. Dr. Wright has a special interest in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment—a hands-on approach used to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal pain. Outside of medicine, his interests include the outdoors, black coffee, movie soundtracks and good fellowship with friends.
Dr. Abed is originally from Iraq where she completed medical school at the University of Mosul. She then moved to Jordan where she volunteered as a General Practitioner at a refugee camp. Later, she moved to Qatar and completed an OB/GYN residency program in affiliation with Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar. In 2012, she came with her family to Alabama as her husband began working at Children's of Alabama. Dr. Abed volunteered in family medicine practices in Alabama before joining Cahaba Medical Care. She enjoys spending time with her 3 children, cooking, sewing and traveling.
Dr. Darby was raised in Florence, in the corner of northwest Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee with a major in Biochemistry and minors in Music and Spanish. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine as both a Rural Medical Scholar and a Dean’s Primary Care Health Scholar. His Christian faith is the cornerstone of his life and actions, and he is passionate about serving Christ through both rural primary care and international medical missions. He is thankful that God brought him to Cahaba, as the driving idea and curriculum behind Cahaba are the perfect embodiment of his aspirations and create the perfect place for him to live out these aspirations now and train for his future. Dr. Darby is married to his wonderful wife that has supported him throughout this educational journey, along with their three fur children. He also loves music, fishing, and fitness.
Dr. Mahmood is originally from Northern California. He received his Bachelor’s degree from University of San Francisco with major in Accounting and minor in Chemistry/Pre-health Sciences. Upon graduating Dr. Mahmood spent some time in the corporate world while earning his CPA certification. He left his corporate job in order to pursue his dream of becoming a physician. Dr. Mahmood received his medical degree from Windsor University School of Medicine. He completed his two years of clinical rotations in Chicago, IL. While attending medical school Dr. Mahmood continued to enhance his business knowledge by enrolling into a MBA degree program. When not working he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching and playing sports (basketball, football, baseball, and cricket).
Dr. Williams is originally from Mobile, Alabama. His undergraduate degree was completed at The University of Alabama and his medical degree was completed at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts. While in school he worked as an archery technician and a medical assistant. His interests include hunting, fitness, football, and rural health.
Dr. Bishop grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota and earned her bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota; however, Alabama has been her home for the past several years. She received her medical degree from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. While in medical school, she rotated as a student at Cahaba Medical Care and was inspired to pursue a career in family medicine. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her three children, running, swimming, and cycling.
Dr. Cade is originally from the very small town of Thomaston, Alabama. She began preparing for a career in medicine by participating in the Rural Health Scholars and Minority Rural Health Pipeline Programs at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa while in high school. She then earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Master's Degree in Rural Community Health from the University of Alabama. She received her medical degree as a Rural Medical Scholar from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2015. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her sweetheart Patrick. Her future plans include getting married and starting a family, practicing family medicine in rural Alabama, and incorporating missions work into her practice.
Dr. Clements was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and knew from the time she was a little girl that she wanted to be a physician. She attended Tennessee State University on full academic scholarship and majored in Biology. She then received a Master’s Degree in Public Health and certificate in International Global Health Studies from UAB. She earned her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. Dr. Clements discovered CMC when she rotated here as a fourth year medical student, and “fell in love” with the program. When not working, you can find her spending time with family, church family, singing (although she's known to do that at work), dancing, painting, volunteering, and doing retail therapy.
Dr. Hyer is originally from Northwest Indiana; however, Alabama has been her home since 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from Judson College in Marion, Alabama and graduated from medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama in 2015. Dr. Hyer is passionate about spending the rest of her life living in a rural community in Alabama and serving people with the best quality and most comprehensive medical care she can provide. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her horse and dog, fishing, camping, swimming, gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
